Re: Care Credit Requirements
Im new to the forum so be nice. ha I am someone who is rebuilding their credit. right now Im sitting at a 640 fico and its going up every month. Its now February. I want to get a care credit card. I paid offa BMW a few years ago, so right now I only have a Capitol One credit card with a $200 line of credit. I am likely going to get a new car soon which should help my credit profile. I’m wondering if anyone can tell me base on their experience what I should do before applying for the card? Im thinking its a good idea to get the car first because Ive read that CareCredit is likely to give you a larger amount if they see you are already managing a large amount.? I’d be grateful for any useful infornation on this. Thanks!
If you really want to have another card you should apply for it at least 6 mos. prior to the auto loan, ideally.
And IMHO it would be a mistake to apply at this time in your rebuilding for the Care Credit card which has super high interest on other than promotional purchases, is usable in limited circumstances.
My advice would be to apply for a Barclay Rewards card as your second card.

Family loan: A family loan can be a low-interest option to fund medical expenses. A successful arrangement includes a formal written agreement outlining interest and terms between both family members. Also, consider IRS guidelines and the impact a family loan can have on the relationship.
Credit union loan: Credit unions are not-for-profit organizations that may offer loans with lower interest rates and more flexible terms than online lenders. Get pre-qualified. Most online lenders allow you to pre-qualify for a loan using a soft credit check. This means you can know if youll be approved without negatively impacting your credit score. Pre-qualifying also allows you to see potential loan terms, APRs, amounts and payments, so you can compare offers and choose one that gives you the amount you need with payments you can afford.
Add a co-borrower or collateral: Co-signed, joint or secured loans are less risky for lenders and can increase your likelihood of approval. You may even get a lower rate.
